After the short trip we reached windy Riga on Friday afternoon. The trip didn’t feel too long because we had some great discussions in the car about women rights, greatest movies for entrepreneurship and lots of todo stuff. After the trip I’m already convinced by David to try out the speed reading, to buy a Philips sunrise alarm lamp and watch some recommended movies like “Tuesdays with Morrie“, “The Game“. From early start we went on our goal to have a social weekend.
For me leaving the city is the changes that helps to motivate yourself for hard working. Even though the traveling is tiring activity it pays back with never getting into boredom. I add being a traveler to the “nice habit to have” list. To adopt yourself for constant traveling requires a lot of time, but this is where you can open the gates for the great adventures.
As all the events are being late, the garage pitching night was no exception. But this was some great hours of laughter. I am familiar with the geek jokes but this is a new humor. I have named it startupish humor. This is something what can be understood by regular people but in a way it is always about technology and business. This is a great thank you to the presenters for honest laugh and building cozy relation between everyone. I believe some pitches were created on the fly because everyone felt comfortable in the hall.
There were great variety of ideas. Most of them were focused on mobile market what has exposed big demand of iOS and Android developers. Probably half of all ideas needed mobile developer. However, the biggest demand during the team building has been seen for designers. The practice from silicon valley startups shows that big focus on design and interface details really matters for the success. We’re taking over such practice but I still doubt about design quality but we will see it in final products presented on Sunday night. The design as a culture habit is something worth discussion on separate notes post.
The were around 30 ideas. At least such count number managed to be listed. After the team building there were left 16 of them. Those are going to be pursued during the weekend. Not all of them are great but as we all know it is not about the idea, it’s about the implementation.
Our product is also in the progress which might be renamed today during the work time. But I am proud that we believe in product need ourselves an we managed to convince others about it. Veli has joined our team and this is a great benefit for our team to have such skilled designer. We will work hard and after this weekend we will hopefully have a product that can last for long time
